Apparently, the Basilica di San Marco isn’t Marco Polo’s old house. Who knew?

‘I knew,’ said Toby. ‘It’s named for San Marco or Saint Mark who wrote the Gospel of Mark - duh.’

I told him that just because you do a quick Google search and repeat whatever Wikipedia tells you doesn’t mean you knew who that was.

‘Well, at least I try to be a little educated,’ he said shaking his head. ‘And anyways, everyone knows that Marco Polo is just a kids game played in swimming pools.’
