I was in Columbus, Ohio four times in May. A bit of an unusual schedule but it gave me the opportunity to wander all over the city. This time I had decided to walk south of the river and came across an interesting bridge.

Toby said he thought the bridge looked dilapidated. I said I thought that was a very specific choice of words and he said it was the precise word he needed to express his thought. Continuing on, he said that in addition to looking unsound, it didn’t look very functional as it was missing its top. I told him it was a photo of the bottom of the bridge and that the top probably worked just fine, but Toby wasn’t convinced. ‘Is this bridge why they want an infrastructure bill,’ he asked? ‘And why can’t your fancy camera keep your pictures turned the right way?’ He was just starting in on Christopher Columbus and the Indians when I realized where he was going next so I pointed out the window and yelled, ‘Squirrel!’
