Dichotomy of Action
The Triune Brain theory refers to separate areas of the brain the supposedly developed at different times. The Lizard Brain is the oldest and lowest level and refers Basal Ganglia which dominates lizard and bird brains. It wonders, “Can I eat it or can it eat me?” Fight, Flight or Freeze. The Neomammalian Brain is the most recent and highest functioning level found only in higher mammals and allows for abstraction perception and curiosity. “What is it?” Am I a lizard and run from this sight which makes no sense or am I a monkey to go investigate?
